Our Portfolio

Thurston County Point in Time Census

The annual Federally mandated count of unhoused people by County takes place every January. We led this effort in 2018 & 2020. Centered in trauma informed practices and a 'by and for' approach, we engaged across jurisdictions and political divides to bring in the most on time and accurate count to date.

Nonprofit Strategic Planning

We have led strategic planning for Thurston Climate Action Team & PiPE, both grassroots nonprofits in the Olympia area. Using an Appreciative Inquiry process to set aspirations for a shared positive future, we brought together staff, board members and key volunteers to build a collaborative strategy that addressed both internal and external needs.

Washington State Arts Commission

Statewide engagement for a collaborative planning process using Appreciative Inquiry, SOAR, and community outreach to set aspirational areas, goals, and strategies for a 5 year plan. This small State agency has stewarded the Arts in schools, public spaces and policy for the last generation. The completed plan can be found HERE.

Organizational Design, Grid Alternatives

In collaboration with Conscious Transformation Agents, we responded to a rapidly evolving solar nonprofit and their need to better understand their work, roles, and structures in the Outreach Department. With them, we dug deep into the true nature of their work and ultimately re structured leadership for their department from a VP, Director, manager system to shared leadership of four directors collaboratively responsible for the department.

In a first ever effort, SPU is building a Waste Prevention Strategic Plan. Our team was hired to design and coordinate Stakeholder Engagement for both existing and potential stakeholders, challenging us to reach beyond those normally engaged to bring a more equitable sampling of wisdom to the process. King County Public Health Equitable Outreach

We have assisted King County in two projects related to their On-site Sewer Systems and wastewater treatment. For seven months we coordinated community outreach to learn more about how residents and businesses interact with Code Revisions. We also worked with Equitable Wastewater Futures to build a collaborative inter-jurisdictional and community led team to innovate approaches to sewer to septic conversion in the Urban Growth Area.

Oregon DSHS Well Being Pilot

In coordination with A Human Workplace, we worked to find innovative and self organized ways to bring deeper and more sustainable well being practices to outreach workers for the States Aging and Disability programs. These dedicated professionals deal with second hand trauma and huge case loads. We helped them develop Wellness Circles to support healthy habits around boundaries and mental health.
